On June 5, 2025, the Storting passed an act amending the Health Research Act, the purpose of which was, among other things, to simplify access to health information, changes to REK's role (and responsibility) for safeguarding privacy in research processes, clarification of the distinction between consent to research and consent under GDPR, etc.

In this workshop, lawyer Petter Bjerke will review the new regulatory changes in the Health Research Act but also touch on new EU legislation on the way that has an impact on sharing and access to personal data through the European Health Data Space Regulation (EHDS).
