WiLD Norway Appoints Alfred Bjørlo to Its Board
Women in Life Science Norway (WiLD Norway) has appointed Alfred Bjørlo, former Member of Parliament and health policy spokesperson for the Liberal Party (Venstre), to its Board of Directors.
Bjørlo welcomes the role, noting that women make up the majority of the health workforce yet remain under-represented in executive teams, boardrooms, and investment decisions, while women’s health continues to be under-prioritized and under-funded. “- WiLD Norway is a clear new voice for achieving real gender balance all the way to the top of the health industry,” he says. “- That is essential both for genuine equality and for building life sciences and health as future-proof industries in Norway.”
WiLD’s Chair Chelsea Ranger highlights the strategic value of the appointment: “To strengthen Norway’s health industry and accelerate innovation, we must remove the structural barriers that keep women from advancing to leadership, board service, and entrepreneurship. Alfred brings valuable experience from both health and business policy. With him on the Board, we will intensify our policy work to dismantle these barriers, promote diversity, and counter bias.”
Ranger adds that balanced leadership where decisions and funding are made is directly linked to research priorities and patient outcomes. “By ensuring diverse perspectives in leadership, we can help correct the historical underfunding and neglect of women’s health, while strengthening collaboration with government, industry, and academia. Inclusive leadership is a cornerstone of a stronger, more effective life sciences sector in Norway.”
