Going for the GOLD: Findings from a Project on Ageing in a Gender and Diversity Perspective at PRIO
Why is it that some academics remain active an engaged long after the cutoff for mandatory retirement has passed, while others begin to slow down and disengage when they still have many more years to go?
The GOLD project at PRIO (the Peace Research Institute Oslo) — "Golden years, gold standards: ageing at PRIO from a gender and diversity perspective" — aims at not only identifying the various needs different groups of people have when it comes to ageing, but also translating these needs into institutional policy and practice.
In this presentation, Lynn Nygaard, PI of the GOLD project, will present some of the project's preliminary findings: describing the rich interview data on how individuals view ageing, retirement and work, what kind of institutional responses PRIO is considering, and how gender and other aspects of diversity play a role.
